Episode 3 Opponents

  • Opponent 1 - Female NE Rogue; Dead before cheapshot ended. There was absolutely nothing this opponent could have done differently to change the outcome. There is no way to tell if this opponent is skilled or unskilled.
    AFK: No
Unskilled: Impossible to tell, they are dead before cheapshot ended.
Gold Farmer: This is at a time when people were still working on blue sets from Strath and Scholomance. Most players didn't have good gear. And many decided to craft gear rather than farm dungeon sets. Wearing devilsaur and other bind on equip and crafted items had better stats than the dungeon set. There were rogues who made movies at this time wearing devilsaur and crafted gear. Check out Shurriken's movies, if Mute had fought him, they'd call him a gold farmer. This rogue is wearing devilsaur pants. I find it unlikely that a gold farmer would waste +50g on them. The fight is included simply as part of the inspection.

  • Opponent 2 - Male Gnome Warlock; This guy is skilled. He knows exactly what to do. He reacts almost instantly. And there's not a damn thing he could have done to win. He instantly throws on curse of shadows and seduce. Then he starts casting immolate, but Mute's already back on him.
    AFK: Hell no.
Unskilled: Absolutely not. The player was good.
Gold Farmer: No. He had the warlock epic mount.

  • Opponent 3 - Female Human Mage; Dead almost instantly. What the hell was this guy going to do? Mute ambushes and then instantly gouges. Even if he spams blink, he isn't going anywhere. Mute reopens with cheapshot to eviscerate, killing him in around 1 1/2 seconds. If he had continued to spam blink, it's possible he might have blinked during the 1 1/2 seconds after Mute reopons. Is it reasonable to believe that all players who have been blocked from blinking during the opening would realize that the second stun isn't a disorient and escape during those 1 1/2 seconds? No. Most players would not react that quickly. Especially when you factor in surprise.
    AFK: No, they were stunlocked.
    Unskilled: It's impossible to tell.
Gold Farmer: They were wearing Magisters. Gold farmers did not wear Magisters.

  • Opponent 4 - Male Human Shadow Priest; He fears. Mute vanishes at the same time and the fear is prevented. He opens with a second ambush. The player dots, but is dead before he can do anything else. There is nothing this player could have done to win.
    AFK: No.
Unskilled: What would anyone have done differently?
Gold Farmer: No. He's wearing the devout helm and dreadmist gloves.

  • Opponent 5 - Male Human Warrior; This player is hit with ambush and immediately blinded. Then Mute reopens with another ambush. Mute dodges and before the warrior could possibly overpower, he's instantly gouged. Then Mute evasion/sprints and takes off to lose the mobs on him, he's out of range of intercept before the gouge ends. The warrior bandages, but Mute interrupts his bandage with kidney shot. He breaks kidney shot with his trinket. He renews rend. This gives him a 1.5 second global cooldown. As soon as he has broken kidney shot, Mute dodges 3 times in one second. Less than 2 seconds after the first dodge, when the warrior's global cooldown is just ending, Mute gouges again. There is another dodge to a guard, but the warrior has other opportunities to overpower. He dies in another few seconds. The only time Mute was in charge/intercept range was when he ran back while the warrior was bandaging. He had no chance to overpower, as Mute would gouge him. This warrior didn't make any real mistakes.
    AFK: No.
    Unskilled: No.
Gold Farmer: No. He's wearing almost full valor.

  • Opponent 6 - Male Human Paladin; This is one of the best damn paladins there is, and this was simply a great fight. While there was no chance of him beating Mute, he simply couldn't do enough dps, it takes a hell of a long time to put him down. To see this fight full screen, download the original version of Episode 3.
    AFK: No.
    Unskilled: He's extremely skilled.
Gold Farmer: He had an Ironfoe and Skullflame Shield.

  • Opponent 7 - Male Dwarf Priest; He was dead almost instantly. There's nothing this guy could have done.
    AFK: No
Unskilled: No, there's no way to tell, he's dead before he could do anything.
Gold Farmer: No. He's wearing devout.

  • Opponent 8 - Male Human Paladin; The reason this player is missing a small amount of health is because this isn't the start of the fight. He was chasing Mute when the video begins. He starts to cast a gnomish death ray when Mute gouges him. Mute backstabs him once. Then the player stuns Mute, hits him twice, and starts to heal. Mute gouges him, backstabs and then eviscerates the guy down to 1-2% health. He shields and heals again. Then he runs up to Mute for some reason before healing again. Then begins a second heal, but before he can finish it Mute gouges him. He swings at Mute, and within a fraction of a second, Mute vanishes and ambushes through him. You don't see that kind of timing with many rogues. Mute rarely bothered being in front of opponents to gouge, or behind to ambush, he was simply able to hit them with position dependant abilities as he walks through by timing his hits as he passes out. I enjoyed watching this fight. I (Aaron) selected the fights, and whatever I enjoyed made the final cut. This is the first player in the video that makes any mistakes. He should have healed better. Yet there's nothing he could have done realistically to win.
    AFK: No
    Unskilled: He makes mistakes.
Gold Farmer: He's wearing Lightforge, he's not a gold farmer.

  • Opponent 9 - Male Human Mage; Mute cheapshots him. It's very possible his blink was down (how often do mages blink while running through Ironforge?). It's possible he was hoping the other alliance would help him. And it's possible he made a mistake. He ice blocks as soon as the cheapshot ends. While he's in iceblock, he says something, probably "help". But no one does. He frost novas when ice block ends, but he's dead before he can cast anything else. I included this fight for the cool moment where everyone backs away as Mute looks at them after the mage dies.

Critics claimed this proved that all of Arthas was in on it. The whole thing was a vast conspiracy against rogues. I still have the complete video. After they back away, the four alliance, shadow priest, warlock, and two mages all attack Mute at once. He jumps off the ledge and starts to run away, but he's hit with a black out proc, a few seconds later a mage frost novas. He kills the mage as they pass, but dies immediately after.
    AFK: No.
Unskilled: If blink is up, then he made the mistake of not blinking.
Gold Farmer: He's in Magisters and he's a Sergeant Major, he's not a gold farmer.

  • Wildheart

  • Opponent 10 - Male NE Rogue; Mute cheap shots and ruptures the rogue. He tries to gouge, but Mute dodges the attack. Then he vanishes, but rupture brings him back out. Mute uses evasion and blinds, but the rogue parries it (this was when blind could be parried). He uses his own evasion and potions back to full health. Mute restealths, cheapshots, and brings him down to 50%. The rogue gouges after cheapshot, and backstabs, kidneyshots and continues hitting Mute with backstab. Mute comes out of kidney shot, hits him with a sinister strike before he is gouged again. The rogue continues to backstab Mute, but Mute only needs another few hits to finish him.
    AFK: No
Unskilled: He doesn't make any real mistakes
Gold Farmer: He's in full Shadowcraft with Dal'Rends, rare at this time. This isn't any gold farmer.

  • Opponent 11 - Male Human Rogue; - Mute cheapshots and ruptures. The rogue vanishes and rupture immediately brings him back out. 2 seconds later he's dead.
    AFK: No
Unskilled: What was he supposed to do? Perhaps he could have used cheapshot in that half a second before the rupture tick. Does this mean he's a bad player because he didn't react instantly? No, few players react that fast, and when you factor in surprise, it's not unreasonable at all.
Gold Farmer: No. He's wearing devilsaur gloves and pants, and the stormshroud shoulders. No gold farmer would pay for that.

  • Opponent 12 - Male NE Rogue; Mute cheapshots and kidney shots, and the guy is at 50% before he can do anything. He gouges and runs away as Mute is hit by a second rogue in epics and a guard. Seeing the second rogue and guard on Mute, he stops and waits to help fight. Mute blinds him, then vanishes, evasions, sprints off to lose the guard, before turning to come back. By this time a rogue and paladin are also on Mute. The rogue hits Mute as he comes at him, but he dies almost instantly.
    AFK: No.
Unskilled: He gouges as soon as he is able. Blind would have been wasted with the crowd on Mute. Maybe he should have kept running, but who would run from a enemy with bloodfang/nightslayer rogue on him (and guards)? Maybe he should have evasioned, but by this time, Mute has three rogues, a paladin, and guards on him. How unreasonable is it to think they could take Mute down first?
Gold Farmer: No. He's wearing Shadowcraft and he's Sergeant Major.

  • Opponent 13 - Female NE Hunter; Mute cheapshots this hunter in the center of a dozen alliance. The hunter says something almost instantly, probably "help". Mute vanishes and cheapshots again. Once the hunter comes out of this they scatter shot Mute. The hunter is now at 20% health, and Mute has a crowd on him. The hunter runs to the other side of the room and feigns death to make Mute lose his target, hoping he won't be able to retarget in the crowd. He does, and kills them. What exactly was this hunter supposed to do? They were in the center of a dozen of alliance.
    AFK: No.
    Unskilled: No.
Gold Farmer: No. They are wearing beaststalkers and the ancient bone bow.

  • Opponent 14 - Male Human Warlock; The guy is in the center of dozens of alliance. Warlocks do not have death coil yet. What was he going to do? Mute opens with cheap shot, vanishes, reopens with cheap shot, by this time he's down to 25% health. He tries to keep away from Mute while the dozens of alliance beat on him. Mute still finishes him off first. He's not afk.
    AFK: No.
Unskilled: What's he going to do?
Gold Farmer: He's wearing full dreadmist, he's not a gold farmer.

  • Shadowcraft with worn daggers
  • Opponent 15 - Male Human Warrior; Mute opens with cheapshot, followed by kidney shot. The warrior breaks kidney shot with his trinket. Mute dodges an attack. The warrior is in the wrong stance for overpower, he changes to the correct stance and immediately overpowers Mute. Mute does not dodge again during the fight, he gets no more opportunites to overpower. Mute stealths and he brings Mute out of stealth with a shout. Every time Mute stealths, he brings him back out. At the end he tries to back away for a intercept/charge, but Mute follows him in, stealths, and cheapshots to end the fight. This was a very good warrior. He didn't miss any opportunities.
    AFK: No
    Unskilled: The opponent was good.
Gold Farmer: He's wearing Valor. He's no gold farmer.

  • Opponent 16 - Female Human Rogue; Mute cheapshots and ruptures. The rogue vanishes and is brought back out. They run around each other for a few seconds, the rogue trying to hit Mute. Mute evasions, and hits them a few more times before they are dead.
    AFK: No.
Unskilled: They do not do that great for the few seconds they are free.
Gold Farmer: Dal'Rends and Shadowcraft. They are no gold farmer

  • Opponent 17 - Male NE Druid; The druid is below 25% by the end of cheapshot. They try to jump away while casting fairy fire. Then he casts entangling roots. This takes place in the 4-5 seconds he's out of stun. As soon as Mute is entangled, he blinds the druid. This is the end of the fight because Mute then kills him.
    AFK: No.
Unskilled: He doesn't react instantly without entangling roots. Instead he faire fires first. He did not have long to make mistakes.
Gold Farmer: This player is not a gold farmer. Like most players, they just didn't have epics at the time. They are still on Arthas, and in the same guild, only they now have full epics.

  • Wildheart and worn daggers
  • Opponent 18 - Male NE Rogue; Mute ambushes and immediately gouges. Then he vanishes, cheap shots, and kills him.
    AFK: No
    Unskilled: It's impossible to tell.
Gold Farmer: No. He has Shadowcraft

  • Opponent 19 - Male Gnome Mage; The video starts with Mute in frost nova, and the mage in mid frost bolt cast. Mute vanishes removing frost nova and canceling the frost bolt. Mute jumps through him ambushing as he comes out the back, as the mage aoes to find him. The mage then frost novas again. Mute immediately gouges, followed by blind. Mute waits for energy, and then sinister strikes for a combo point, and gouges again immediately. A 5 point cold blood eviscerate finishes the mage off.
    AFK: No.
Unskilled: No. He seems to be a good player.
Gold Farmer: No. He's a master sergeant wearing magisters.

  • Opponent 20 - Male NE Rogue; Mute opens on the rogue with an ambush and gouge. Vanishes to reopen with cheapshot and eviscerates him down to 20% health. The rogue tries to vanish, but it apparently fails and Mute blinds him. Then Mute revanishes, and would have finished the rogue had it not been for a paladin heal. The paladin continues to heal the rogue, and it's impossible for mute to fight them both. In the second fight, Mute opens again with an ambush into a gouge as he jumps through his opponent. A vanish into a cheapshot/cold blood eviscerate and the guys a 5% health. He gouges Mute, but a mob respawn finishes him with two hits.
    AFK: No.
Unskilled: Who knows? Mute kills him extremely fast.
Gold Farmer: He's in full shadowcraft.

  • Opponent 21 - Male Dwarf Hunter; He sees Mute following him and immediately hunter's mark and has his pet attack. Mute sprints to stay on him. Then evasions. The hunter who is running from Mute, accidently pulls a mob onto him, he drinks a potion to refill his life. Mute uses evasion again, and eventually kills the hunter just barely before the hunter's pet killed him.
    AFK: No.
    Unskilled: He doesn't use wingclip
Gold Farmer: This player belonged to a raiding guild that went on to down Ragnaros. And if he had been a gold farmer, it's very unlikely he would have been a Corporal or have used a potion to win a pvp fight. His gear wasn't great, but again, most players did not have good gear at this time. He's no longer on Arthas. There are three dwarf hunters by the name, all 70, all pvp, and none are gold farmers.

  • Opponent 22 - Male Human Mage; Mute opens with cheapshot and the mage blinks out. He sprints to him and is frost nova'd. Mute immediately blinds to counter frost nova. The mage is at 40% health, and decides to make a run for it. He blinks again to distance himself from Mute. Mute resprints, vanishes, and cheapshots. This time the mage does not have blink. Mute follows cheapshot with a kidney shot, and the mage is dead. This fight was included because it was appropriate for the music; running up a hill to "gonna fly now".
    AFK: No.
    Unskilled: No.
Gold Farmer: He's a Sergeant and wearing a mooncloth robe. Gold farmers do not pvp or wear expensive crafted items.

  • Naked
  • Opponent 23 - Male NE Warrior; This player has his afk tag on. This is where the "they were afk!" comes from. He was also moving then entire time and fighting back. Mute distracts him, and as he runs out of the cave, Mute jumps through his front and ambushes as he passes out his opponent's back. Then Mute turns around and jumps through his back, this time gouging as he passes out his front. Impressive stuff. Mute stays on his gouged opponent to prevent any possible charges or intercepts and restealths while the warrior backs away to avoid the dragon. Then Mute cheapshots and brings his opponent to 50% with an eviscerate. He vanishes and cheapshots again. As cheapshot ends, Mute evasions and gouges. Then he eviscerates his opponent down to 15% health. The warrior immediately fears Mute and bandages. As soon as fear ends, Mute attacks to interrupt the bandage. Mute dodges and immediately tries to gouge, but it misses. The warrior may not have been in battle stance. If he was, he misses the opportunity to overpower. This would be the only missed overpower in the video. Instead he hamstrings and demoralizing shouts. He is bringing Mute down very quickly, and Mute is at 30% before he can stop him with blind. This was a total of about 10 seconds from the time Mute interrupted his bandage. Mute cheapshots the warrior, goes into a gouge, and uses coldblood eviscerate to bring the warrior to 1-2% health. The warrior can only get another single swing before he's dead.
    AFK: No
Unskilled: He does not get the chance to make many mistakes. If he was in battle stance, he missed a single overpower.
Gold Farmer: He's wearing valor and has an Arcanite Reaper. He's not a gold farmer.

  • Opponent 24 - Female Human Mage; Mute ambushes while the mage is in mid spell cast. The mage backs up and frost novas. Mute kidney shots immediately. Because the kidney shot is only 2 points, Mute vanishes into a cheapshot. The mage blinks out and turns on his ice shield. Mute follows them off the ledge and eviscerates. The mage is now at 10-15% and Iceblocks. As he often does, Mute uses evasion. Why? Because he's about to use preparation and there's no point not to. It looks cool. Mute then vanishes and waits for iceblock to end. He coldblood ambushes at the exact moment iceblock ends, killing the mage before they have a chance to do anything.
    AFK: No
Unskilled: He reacts slowly at first, and falls off of the ledge. That's about it for mistakes.
Gold Farmer: He's a knight lieutenant with an epic dagger. He's no gold farmer.

  • Opponent 25 - Male Human Rogue; Ambush into gouge. Stealth into cheapshot. Coldblood eviscerate. The rogue has zero chance to do anything.
    AFK: No. He's stunlocked
    Unskilled: It's impossible to tell.
Gold Farmer: He's a master sergeant. Gold farmers don't pvp.

  • Opponent 26 - Male NE Rogue; Mute opens with ambush. The rogue turns around and sinister strikes, but is hit with Mute's blind. Mute cheapshots into a coldblood eviscerate. Another blind into a second cheapshot cold blood eviscerate. The rogue vanishes with a sliver of health. Mute evasions and searches for him, but is unable to find him.
    AFK: No.
Unskilled: No. He gets no chance to fight back. Other than the, what, 2 seconds when he turns to fight Mute, he gets no chance to respond.
Gold Farmer: A knight lieutenant in epics?

  • Opponent 27 - Male NE Warrior; Mute jumps through his opponent's front and ambushes as he passes out. The warrior swings at Mute, Mute dodges and immediately gouges before overpower. Mute backstabs and jumps over his opponent to use blind. Mute follows this by sinister strike and gouge, but gouge misses. Mute runs around his opponent, attempting to keep out of range of autoattack, while staying too close for intercept. He occasionally runs through his opponent to sinister strike for points. He uses evasion and gouges. Once gouge ends, the warrior rends. Mute tries to kidney shot, but misses. The warrior thunder claps. And Mute runs through his front again backstabbing as he passes through. Mute vanishes when the warrior approaches. This whole time Mute is careful about his range. The warrior swings at Mute, and Mute gouges him. Mute tries to finish the fight with an eviscerate and a coldblood backstab, but misses on both. Mute is nearly dead by this point. He blinds. Then backstabs twice, runs through his opponent, and gouges. One more backstab and the fight is over.
    AFK: No.
Unskilled: He does not react quickly
Gold Farmer: He's a Sergeant Major with an Arcanite Reaper. He's no gold farmer.

  • There are twenty seven opponents in Episode 3, not including the warrior in the opening. Out of these twenty seven opponents, not one is afk. Out of these twenty seven opponents, only one is potentially a gold farmer, and that is unlikely. Out of these twenty seven opponents, only seven make real mistakes. Out of these players who make real mistakes, only 3 could be called non-skilled fairly. This has been exaggerated to the point where critics claim ALL of the opponents were AFK Gold Farmers.

Download other videos made at this period. Look at the opponents who are not stunlocked the entire fight. Of the opponents that have time to make mistakes, most do. If these videos had been made by Mute, they would have have been called a video entirely against afk gold farmers. This is because rogues have never judged Mute's opponents based on the actual fights, they judge them solely by their hatred for the video's message.
