World of Roguecraft - Episode 3

"We got a kick out of it because it shows an aspect of the game -- but not necessarily a common truth. It was presented well, and we enjoyed it for what it was -- a cautionary tale regarding the power of rogues... It did, however, have Eyonix going "When have I EVER said 'There there, my darlings'?!" for a while. :P"- Caydiem

"...None of these involve developers in their offices saying "there there my darlings, I'll nerf fear again MMMMMMM"".- Kalgan

"And the video was hilarious. Much love to the Horde on Arthas." - Tyren

"There there, my darlings" - Eyonix

World of Roguecraft Episode 3 was released in August 2005. All video was recorded in patch 1.6. The film was a response to the rampant theorycraft that existed. World of Roguecraft Episode 3 was originally released only to the Arthas community. Overnight it became the discussion topic of every forum. Points of Episode 3

  • Caster Itemization; Caster's had garbage available at that time. While melee classes had their damage constantly increased from both weapons and items, almost no caster items had spell damage. The primary stats on all caster weapons and armor were stamina/intellect/spirit. Those were your only choices. This is no longer true. After the video was released, caster gear was completely reworked. Even previously existing epics like Felheart were improved.
  • Demonstration of Rogue PvP; The naked rogue fights demonstrated the enormous power of surprise, stealth, and stunlocks. Even without their usual dps or stamina, a rogue was able to defeat opponents simply with their control over fights. Eventually, over another year, the other classes were brought up to par with rogues.
